a lot of people asked about blogging platforms and which one is best at the Blog Out Loud event last week. all of the platforms offer template-style boxes for easy typing and publishing although some have easier customization, some have a monthly fee, some offer widgets, there are a lot of differences.
I would suggest doing some research and asking your blogging friends what they are using and why they like it. I use Blogger (which provides a blogspot.com in the URL) and I really like it. It's been easy to custom a ton of things on the blog and add in 3rd party widgets. A lot of people also love Wordpress - a pretty and simple platform as well.
